All I know is that some people (not me, I'm Jesus and always celebrate my birthday) are more than happy to do Christmas on the biggest scale possible! Get a big tree and put all kinds of lights on the house. Hey, those assholes don't have any control anymore so go flaunt it! So the kids may not understand why they didn't do it in the past but that would just make it all that much more fun and exciting to do it for the first time.

MN Wild Vs. Nashville Predators
by scootergirl innuttin' better than a hockey game!

To me, hockey is one of the only sports I can really respect. A bunch of guys not only have to worry about getting a little puck in a small net guarded by someone by hitting it with a stick, they have to do it on ice. You have to be skilled at more than one thing and at hockey games there's always action because its such a quick game.
Hockey kicks butt!

Hehehehehe, that's funny.
I've never been able to understand how NASCAR is so popular. I live in an area that worships it and many members of my family will travel long distances to watch it but I just can't see what's so great about it, especially Dale Earnhardt. A guy intimidates other people who are big and famous because they can drive in big circles faster than the other guys intimidates them, refused to wear safety devices (HANS device I believe its called), and then, big shocker, when intimidating someone slams his car into a wall and dies (which may have been prevented had he been wearing his HANS). I'm sorry, I just cannot see that as some big tragic thing that deserves large ammounts of grief. If someone wants to drive a car in circles and extremely high speeds while "intimidating" other people who are trying to attain higher speeds and refusing to wear safety devices because it makes him uncomfortable that's just evolution working its course to get rid of certain types of people.
And in case you're wondering, I have no problems going on about how horrible the JW's are to family, even those who are die hard JW's. Trashing NASCAR, or even racing in general, is a different story. Saying what I think of religion in general wouldn't be nearly as bad as saying what I think of NASCAR in my family. I guess there is a good side to this board being anonomous after all!

Again (because I've already answered this same question numerous times on this board, go read the old postings from the past week or two), I drive a black 97 Saturn SL2 with all the extras. Its a little pricier than comparable cars but gets great gas milage, doesn't break, and gets me where I need to go. That plus I got a good deal on it and it was in perfect shape (imagine a lawyer married to a doctor to picture the last owners) when I bought it.

I saw my medical records the other day....
by meat pie in.
.....and inside was the letter i sent to my doctor a few months ago, asking for my health care advance directive to be removed, as i no longer shared the beliefs of jws.
attached was a note stating that my letter had been acted upon.. what really caught my attention though was what was on the front cover, above my name were the words'jehovah's witness' crossed out.. a funny feeling, then release.

I had to have emergency surgery a couple of months ago and it was actualy quite nice saying that I had no religion. I also told them that should I need blood to give it to me even if various family members objected to it because of JW beliefs. In fact, I told them I'd almost like to have a transfusion just so I could freak out certain people who would come visit but I didn't get any.

Thinking about Bill Bowen...
by Pathofthorns ini was looking over the thread... "should i support bill bowen?".
i realize i am one of the few people that gave bill somewhat of a difficult time pretty much from the beginning when it was not "fashionable" to do so.
it was never my hope to see the man reduced to what he has, but rather to gain a better understanding of the issues involved, the intents and goals of silentlambs and to see reasonableness govern everyone's actions in the whole affair.. imo, i don't think there is any other single person in the last while that has done so much to help address the issue of child abuse among jw's while at the same time exposing them for what they really are.

There have only been two points in this thread that I can agree with. Trauma Hound's and Simon's.
Ok, so Bill has said some stuff that some of you may not agree with. That, of course, would mean that all of his other work is gone into the crapper because of that. I'm happy to see that people who have done nothing that even compares to what Bill has done offering their advice on why the Silent Lamb's issue is worthless now. I'm sure that with your vast experience with matters such as this that you would be able to do so much better.
Also, I'm sorry, but Nancee, you're a nut job. You latch onto any little rumor or paranoid expression and act like its the biggest thing in the world. If you want to publicize established facts that have been documented and proven that's fine but stop making all us other apostates look like raving loons. Yes, yes, I know you'll probably label me, or anyone else that dare disagree with you, as a WT mole because we're not as supportive of your delusional ramblings as you would like but truth be told, how are we to know that you're not a mole yourself? You're very active in attempting to distribute anti-JW material in one of the most offensive ways possible (spamming people) and on top of that the material is often so far out in left field its left the park. What better way to discredit apostates than to make them appear as paranoid jerks? Of all the people on this board that I would suspect of being a "spy" for the WT my very first guess would be you.
Yeah, if you have a problem with Bill or the Silent Lambs issue, go out and start something better yourself. Yeah, Bill may not be absolutely perfect (especially all the continued stress that he's under) but I'd still take him over just about anyone else I can think of to lead it and you should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you, if you think you're helping the children of JW's by trashing him because he may have said some stuff that you disagree with.

Disturbances at Assemblies
by freedom96 ini remember hearing over and over about how wonderful it was to be gathered together at the assemblies, and how the brotherly love flowed, and everyone got along.. they would comment that where else could you get 10,000 and more people together where there was so much peace and unity.. we were flat out told there was no where that this occured.
that wordly people could never have that many people together, then riots would happen, fights, drunken idiots etc.. well, i have been to many busines seminars, where there are thousands of people, and they never get out of hand.
i have been to many concerts with thousands of people there, and they don't get out of hand.. how egotistical these power witnesses are to think they are the only ones that can get along peacefully.. i know there are cases of fights, or something at large events, but there has been things like that at assemblies too.. has anyone here seen fights, or disturbances at assemblies, or large witness gatherings?

Hmmmmmmm..........
Anybody up for dressing up in suits, getting some fake name tags, bibles, and songbooks? What would we need them for? Go to an assembly and get into a fake fight with each other. Sure, having someone do a little cosmetic damage that will heal quickly would be a pain but just think of how much fun it would be to shove a fight between "brothers" in the faces of all those self-righteous dubs?

It is only a matter of time before the pop up menu demons hack our computers and try to sell us anti-pop up software protection for a problem they created!
Yeah, I just love it when I get spam from some company trying to sell me something that's supposed to stop spam. Amazingly enough, I never buy it...........
As for the WT monitoring what I may say, good. Let'em. I hope they read every single word I say about them so they'll know how much I hate them. I hope they pass on all my comments about people I knew. It saves me the hassle of doing it myself. If big brother wants to watch I'll give them a good show.
